Don’t sit on an idea for too long –
Lessons from Regit’s Founder

Dont-sit-on-an-idea-for-too-long
Tell us how you began on this journey.
The idea was from over 18 years ago when one of the founders was struggling in school to pay bills. He observed that businesses were giving money or prizes that were convertible to money, and believing in the rules of numbers (law of averages), set out to sign up and participate in every draw, contest, draw that he could find.
4 years later, he had nothing to show, except the countless marketing calls, and emails. From there, Regit was formed – a better way for us to share personal information. Over the last year and a half, we decided to make the idea into reality.
If you were to write a book, describe its title & cover page.
Point of No Return. In order to conquer impossibilities, you must accept, commit and win over the limitations of your mind. Only then, will you be able to seek the opportunities to make your dreams a reality.
What keeps you going on this journey through all its ups and downs?
What keeps me going is my family, will, and passion for what I do. If my parents can risk their lives to ensure that we have a future, I can certainly do this (run a startup).
What is the best advice you’ve ever been given? What advice have you learnt to disregard?
My husband quoted this to me one day “Change your thoughts and you change your world”, by Norman Vincent Peale. The quote is similar my motto which is to “Make the impossible, possible – by doing the things you think you cannot do.” I have not ignored any advice because they are all lessons that guide you to a better solution towards the problem which you are trying to solve.

If you could go back to yourself at any point in your past, what advice would you give your old self?
Do it. Don’t be afraid. 18 years is a long time to sit on an idea.
In relation to your startup, how are your vision and purpose special & unique?
We are trying to remove friction associated with managing and exchanging personal information. What makes it unique is that we want individuals to have control over their information, whereas information has always been stipulated and controlled by the recipient.
“Change your thoughts and you change your world.”

How do you give back to society? (either currently or how do you hope to / plan to?)
We want to make it convenient for individuals to use their personal information so that they can have time to do the things that are most important to them.
What has been your most satisfying moment on this journey so far?
The materialization and transformation of the idea. Everyday, the product becomes more real and tangible, which acts as fuel and drive us to overcome barriers.
What does money/wealth mean to you?
A mean and not the end. If used correctly, we can drive good change in the world.
Tell us one unique thing about your team / company culture.
Although the team comes from different backgrounds, we are now a family. We eat, sleep, and breathe the same dream. A team member has to believe in our vision and mission. There is no hierarchy – only collaboration.
